A move to a sustainable nation

We are pleased that the Environment (Wales) Act and the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act are now in force, and set a strong framework for action.

With a new Assembly in place since May, Wales needs to show the world that tackling climate change is still a priority. We are calling on the Welsh Government to deliver on these commitments, and for commitment from all Assembly Members to support action on climate change.

Until carbon budgets and interim targets are set we expect the policy target of cutting Wales’ greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2020 to be planned for. We are calling on the Welsh Government to set out an ambitious plan of how to meet our carbon reduction targets in full and how to accelerate action towards a low-carbon economy in Wales.

It is important that we Speak Up and ensure that the Welsh Government sees, hears and feels public appetite for action to tackle climate change at this critical time.
